24 Movie delayed until 2013

The 24 movie has been delayed until 2013 following opinion that the script needed work and Kiefer’s busy schedule.

Entertainment Weekly state that a spokesman for FOX said there is currently “no set date” – meaning it could go into production before 2013, or even after 2013.

Meanwhile The Wrap had an exclusive reveal that the 24 movie will definitely not be filmed this year.

The movie production was set to start shooting next month after Sutherland wraps the season for his television series, “Touch,” but a dispute over budget and the star’s fees put the project off schedule and means it has to be pushed until next year.

“It didn’t work out right now. Everyone is trying to figure out how to do it next year,”

It seems most of the delay has come about after disagreement over budgets and Sutherland’s fee. The Wrap rumours tell us that Sutherland expected the film’s budget to be at $40m at the very least, though FOX want to limit the budget to $30m.

24 Boxset – all 8 seasons

With the release of 24 the movie still some distance away you may need to refresh yourself of past events from previous days. You may also be a complete 24 newbie and haven’t seen a single episode. If this is you then you may want to grab the entire 24 season box set on Bly ray or DVD.

With 8 seasons, 24 episodes a season plus the odd TV special (24 Redemption) this is a bumper box set that will takes a while to get through. I sometimes wish I could go back in time when I had never seen an episode of 24 so that I had the fun of starting all over again. Luckily 24 makes for great repeat viewing.

The 24 complete box set comes with lots of great extras. All the usual commentaries are included as well as deleted scenes. Some of my personal favourite extras are the 24 season prelogues. These are short clips that act as teasers before a season. Season 5 had a good preview with us seeing bearded Jack Bauer trying to remain undetected whilst the authorities continue to believe he’s a dead man. In one prequel you’ll also hear Jack swear.

Here’s a quick summary of some of the best extras you’ll get with this bundle:

Some of the extras will even hint at secrets for the new 24 movie. A lot of people are wondering will Chloe be in the 24 movie? Well in Season 8′s blu ray extras we find out what happened to her character after season 8. Was she murdered? Arrested? Or did she go on the run?

Below I list most of the 24 extras you can expect to find on the DVD:

Season 1: an alternate ending, maybe Teri doesn’t die? plus a preview of 24 season 2

Season 2: lots of deleted scenes with commentaries explaining why they were cut (about 45 scenes in total). A two part documentary titled “24 exposed” which is over 90 minutes long! Commentaries from starts including Kiefer Sutherland, Dennis Haysbert and plenty more.

Season 3: In addition to the usual commentaries, an extended version of Season 3′s premiere plus a programme called “24 – On the Loose” plus others.

Season 4: The Longest Day mmsic video plus lots more.

Season 5: Here we look at the music in the show in a “Music by Sean Gallery” special plus a look back at over 100 episodes of 24.

Season 6: Ricky Gervais, star of The Office, had a cameo in 24 Season 6 and this explains how this came about.

Redemption: A recap of 24 season 6 in four minutes plus a sneak preview of season 7.

Season 7: Lots of deleted scenes, a UK special called “24 in 24″ and another look at the music used in 24.

Season 8: We find out what happened to Chloe after Day 8 plus plenty of deleted scenes.

Touch – Episode One Review

Reaction to Touch Episode 1 Season 1 starring Kiefer Sutherland.

Whilst we await more news on the 24 movie I thought I’d give some attention to another Kiefer Sutherland show, Touch. The pilot, or first episode, aired mid February 2012 and will continue with full throttle about mid march. It’s an odd approach, but the gap between has allowed fans to speculate over the future storylines of the series. I’m sure the writers and producers will have taken a careful look at reactions on forums to help them decide how to shape the rest of the series.

Touch Season 1

Touch Season 1

Overall I enjoyed watching Touch, but it was not without its faults. I like series or movies that deal with science or unexplained aspects of nature. To summarise, in Touch, Kiefer Sutherland plays a father who’s son is a mute. The son also shuns contact with his, widowed, father. The son does display a fascination with numbers however and it appears he may be trying to communicate after all, albeit through Maths. Finally, a meeting with Danny Glover sheds some light on the boy’s condition as it appears that he might see the world in a different way from us normal human beings. He sees the world as a mathematical equation where everyone is connected and can visualise future events via cause and effect.

That concept alone, is enough to make me want to give Touch a fair chance when it starts airing again in March 2012. However I hope the writers can address some alarm bells that started ringing during the pilot episode.

Touch seems to be a show where we’ll be exposed to several characters in isolation throughout the season before we’re shown how everyone is connected and character storylines begin to merge. This isn’t a surprise as this is something Time Kring did a lot with Heroes. The pilot episode had some really odd ways off achieving this however:

Without having to describe an entire episode lets just say that a mobile phone is passed across the globe. It starts by someone trying to raise awareness of a singer and they hope that by filming their friend on a phone they can then pass it on to a stranger and her talent will spread like wild fire. They don’t just share the video file though, they pass on the entire phone. It’s almost like YouTube doesn’t exist in Touch. The phone goes from Ireland, to Tokyo to Kuwait. Meanwhile, in Kuwait, a kid desperate for money is cornered into being a suicide bomber so that his dear old mum can buy an oven and bake bread. The original owner of the phone is desperate for his phone back (it has photos of his young daughter who died a year ago. He never made a copy of these or stored them on the cloud, woops) and events lead to a call centre employee (who just happens to be the same woman on the phone who is singing) acting as a ‘middle man’ as she barters with the young suicide bomber to deactivate the bomb, thus saving the phone and it’s precious photos, in return for an oven, which just so happens to be readily available from the original owner of the lost phone.

Touch itself can be a great series as it has a solid cast. It seems evident that it can go one of two ways: deal with human behaviour in a realistic way and be great solid sci if drama. Or be lazy and have events happen that defy normal human behaviour. Fingers crossed its the former.

Elisha Cuthbert (Kim Bauer) may be in 24 The Movie

Kiefer Sutherland has given the biggest hint yet as to whether his daughter Kim Bauer, played by Elisha Cuthbert, could appear in 24 The Movie. Kim has been in many scrapes with her Father Jack, starting in Season 1 of 24, and would be a great addition to the movie.

Jack had to go on the run at the end of Season8, leaving Kim alone once again. Jack regularly saved here so it would be no surprise to see her fall into another tricky situation which requires her Dad’s intervention.

Promoting his latest venture, Touch, Kiefer said:

As it stands now there is room for someone like Elisha Cutherbert, and there certainly is room for Chloe and we will have to see what happens.

24 movie to be PG-13?

Jack to swear in 24 The Movie

Kiefer Sutherland made another appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel show this week. Keifer talked about he’s hoping to start shooting mid-April but couldn’t say that there was a current release date that they’re aiming for. Again, we got confirmation that the movie is not in real time but is in fact a 2 hour film that is a representation of a whole day. So if “Jack Bauer get’s on a plane you don’t have to sit with for the whole ride” – hinting that we could well see Jack jet setting over Europe. The script currently has just the one swear word in it, hinting at a 12A BBFC rating or PG-13.

Following her involvement in Season 8′s finale, Chloe was arrested by the FBI in this Season 8 Blu Ray Extra:
